How do I remove a visualization from Windows Media Player 11?

posted in Law Of Attraction |

I have Windows Vista Home Premium, and Windows Media Player 11. I downloaded these two visualization from microsoft, but now it turns out I don’t want them. I have already tried to remove them via the Plugins option, but the remove button is disabled for some reason.

Ok this part is coming from a source “http://mentoliptus.blogspot.com/2007/06/howto-remove-visualization-in-windows.html.”
First go to this folder “C:Program FilesWindows Media Player” and select the folder named Visualizations. Now, while holding the shift key pressed, right click on the folder named Visualizations and from the context menu select the option “Open Commnand Window Here”.

Open the folder named Visualizations in Explorer; there you will see the dll files corresponding to the visualizations you want to remove among others you may want to conserve. Note that the visualizations built-into the player do not have dll files in this folder.

Once you know which dll correspond to the visualization you want to remove, return to the command window and unregister the dll file with this command:

    regsvr32 /u “name of the file.dll”

Note that the quotes are only necessary of the dll file name contains spaces.

Now you can delete the dll file you unregistered.

Finally, open Windows Media Player and check the if the Visualization list is now as you like it. But now… the .dll file still remains on your system, so you want to delete it.

Go the visualizations folder, which is “C:/program files/windows media player/visualizations” You can also hit windows key + R and type in “C:/program files/windows media player/visualizations” without quotes. Then just delete the .dll file of the visualizations.

Of course, then vista is not going to let you, because it needs permission… so you have to “take own” of that file. So, now what do you do? You go back to the windows media player folder (C:/program files/windows media player) and you right click on the visualizations folder and click on properties. You go to the security tab and find where the edit button is (somewhere in the middle). Click it. Now you have four user names. Administrator, system, Trusted Installer, and user. You click on one, and on the bottom is the permissions box, click the full control check box, and move on to the other three groups. Do the same for Administrator, SYSTEM, USER, and Trusted Installer. Then when you have done this, click ok, and go now into the visualizations folder and now you should be able to delete which ever .dll file you want. Oddly enough that sometimes does not work, and you still need permission, so there is another way… You can find that way on this website : http://www.ocmodshop.com/ocmodshop.aspx?a=851

Either way, you will be finished
    TADA!!
